Slow Life Festival 2017

For those living in Korea, we know that not much moves at a slow pace. Meals are served within minutes. Delivery is nearly instantaneous. Drivers sometimes find red lights to be a hindrance to their 빨리빨리 (bballi-bballi; fast, fast) mindset. It probably doesn't come as a surprise that Koreans may yearn for life to slow down from time to time. 

The Slow Life International Festival in Namyangju (남양주슬로라이프국제대회) exists for that purpose. Not only does the name of the festival literally represent the promotion of a slower and more balanced life, they also use the acronym SLOW: Sustainable lifestyle. Local consumption. Organic relationships and harmonious co-existence. Water-like universality). 

In true festival form, there is an opportunity to try a ton of different foods both Korean and international. Other events on the program include indie band performances, a farmers' market, craft fair, and tons more.

Free Entry?

Regular entry to the festival is 7,000 won for adults and 5,000 won for teenagers/kids.

The Namyangju government is allowing me to invite guests with free entry, but only for the opening day which is

Friday, September 22 at 9:00am.
