Korean Lessons

October 28, 2011

Early in September, my co-teacher mentioned that there was a teacher interested in teaching me the Korean language! I have the lessons at school on Tuesdays and Fridays during a prep period... which is AWESOME since the only other way I know of taking Korean lessons is by travelling to another city on my own time.

So, the lessons began with the basics: learning to read and write Hangul. I've got a good handle on that now (practicing by reading signs as I walk around town lol) but I still only understand a few words. It's made easier due to the fact that a lot of what I read is "Konglish" meaning that it's English written in Hangul. For example, 모텔 = motel, and 캐나다 = Canada. Anyway, I know some of the basic expressions but still have lots to work on. I don't expect to be fluent, but I do hope to be  functional!
